Swiggy’s Green Revolution: Going 100% Electric by 2030 for a Sustainable Future!

In an exciting development for the food delivery industry, Swiggy has pledged to completely transition to a 100% electric vehicle (EV) fleet by 2030. This announcement came during the Swiggy Sustainability Summit 2025 held in New Delhi on Tuesday. Currently, Swiggy collaborates with a vast network of 540,000 delivery partners across India, and a portion of their orders is already delivered using electric vehicles.

Innovations in Delivery Services

Last October, Swiggy introduced its XL EV fleet, designed specifically for bulk orders. This initiative marks a significant step toward sustainability and showcases the company’s commitment to eco-friendly practices.

Partnership for Better Hygiene

At the recent summit, Swiggy also unveiled a partnership with Sulabh International. This collaboration allows delivery partners in major cities to use Sulabh Shauchalya facilities for free, enhancing their comfort and promoting hygiene. Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, emphasized, “By providing our delivery partners access to public sanitation facilities, we aim to improve their daily experiences and reinforce our dedication to their well-being.”

Commitment to Sustainable Practices

Swiggy is not stopping at electric vehicles. The company has committed to ensuring that all its restaurant partners shift to responsible packaging by 2030. Additionally, they aim to reduce perishable waste in their operations by 25% annually through enhanced processes and automation.

  • By 2025: 100% of locally available harvests will be sourced from indigenous producers.
  • By 2030: Swiggy plans to engage over one million individuals within its value chain through initiatives like Swiggy Skills.
  • They also aim to empower 100,000 women in various roles, including delivery partners, entrepreneurs, and employees.

A Focus on Responsible Growth

As the company continues to grow following its market listing, Sriharsha Majety, MD and Group CEO of Swiggy, acknowledged the expanding responsibilities that come with it. “The sustainability goals we announce today highlight our commitment to responsible growth that fosters inclusivity, empowers communities, and drives innovative solutions,” he stated.

Majety further added, “By harnessing the power of technology and innovation, we aim to create impactful changes that address pressing environmental and societal challenges.”

This shift towards sustainability not only enhances Swiggy’s operational efficiency but also positions the company as a leader in promoting eco-friendly practices in the food delivery sector. As consumers increasingly prioritize sustainability, Swiggy’s initiatives are bound to resonate with a growing audience looking for responsible choices.
