Food delivery giant Swiggy has made a significant leap in its quick commerce service, Swiggy Instamart, now available in 100 cities across India. This strategic expansion responds to the surging demand for rapid deliveries, particularly in tier 2 and tier 3 regions. Last month marked the launch of Swiggy Instamart in several cities, including Raipur, Siliguri, Jodhpur, and Thanjavur, all benefiting from the platform’s promise of 10-minute delivery times.
Expanding Reach to Meet Consumer Needs
Amitesh Jha, the CEO of Swiggy Instamart, shared insights on the company’s progress: “In the past year, millions of Indians have relied on Swiggy Instamart for their grocery and essential needs. Expanding to 100 cities not only enhances our reach but also allows us to cater to the evolving demands of consumers in previously underserved areas. Notably, in 2025, one in four new users emerged from tier 2 or 3 cities, highlighting a significant shift towards quick commerce. We’re thrilled to provide increased convenience and variety to a broader audience while supporting local economies through our partnerships with dark store staff and delivery personnel.”
Innovative Solutions: Introducing ‘Megapods’
In anticipation of the upcoming cricket and festive seasons, Swiggy Instamart is also enhancing its infrastructure by rolling out “megapods”. These expansive dark stores, sized between 10,000 to 12,000 square feet, can accommodate up to 50,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs). This development not only boosts the range of products available but also makes shopping easier for consumers.
- Expanded Inventory: The new assortment includes a mix of FMCG and D2C brands, alongside local favorites tailored to each city’s tastes.
- Local Flavor: For instance, in Patna, shoppers can find regional delights like Sudha Milk and Maharaja bread, while in Raipur, options like Vachan and Bake’o’fun are available.
Key Trends in Quick Commerce for 2025
As Swiggy Instamart continues to grow, several intriguing trends have emerged from tier 2 and 3 cities:

- High-Value Customers: A customer in Dehradun has spent a staggering ₹3,34,411 overall.
