Market Value Tumbles: Infosys and TCS Lead ₹93,000 Crore Loss Among Top 10 Firms

In a turbulent trading session, the collective market valuation of five prominent firms in India’s top ten saw a significant drop, totaling ₹93,357.52 crore. The decline was primarily influenced by the performance of major IT companies, notably Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), reflecting a broader weakness in domestic equity markets.

Winners in the Market

Despite the overall downturn, several companies managed to boost their market capitalizations:

  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS): Experienced a remarkable rise of ₹68,463.11 crore, bringing its total market valuation to ₹12,55,526.17 crore.

  • State Bank of India (SBI): Saw its market cap increase by ₹44,947.63 crore, reaching ₹5,11,603.69 crore.

  • Reliance Industries: Gained ₹32,239.78 crore, elevating its valuation to ₹16,77,728.89 crore.

  • HDFC Bank: Recorded an increase of ₹27,491.56 crore, with a total market cap of ₹11,71,918.45 crore.

  • ICICI Bank: Valuation rose by ₹16,794.14 crore, totaling ₹6,52,942.31 crore.

  • Bharti Airtel: The telecom giant’s market cap increased by ₹12,586.72 crore, reaching ₹4,47,866.92 crore.

  • ITC: Their valuation grew by ₹7,731.02 crore, amounting to ₹4,46,898.73 crore.

Notable Declines

On the flip side, some companies faced notable losses in their market valuations:

  • Infosys: Experienced a drop of ₹7,799.72 crore, resulting in a market cap of ₹5,86,548.17 crore.

  • Hindustan Unilever: Saw its valuation decrease by ₹5,252.35 crore, totaling ₹5,97,879.43 crore.

  • Bajaj Finance: Market capitalization fell by ₹1,102.68 crore, amounting to ₹4,21,673.25 crore.

Market Overview

Despite these fluctuations, Reliance Industries continues to hold its position as the most valuable company in India. Following closely are TCS, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Infosys. The market’s volatility highlights the unpredictable nature of investments in the current economic climate.
