Jubilant Foodworks Reports Strong Recovery in Dine-In Sales
Jubilant Foodworks, the powerhouse behind popular brands like Domino’s and Popeyes, is witnessing a promising resurgence in dine-in sales, as shared by Sameer Khetarpal, the CEO and Managing Director. With expectations for continued growth in the coming quarters, the company is positioning itself for an exciting future.
Expansion Plans for Domino’s and Popeyes
Khetarpal revealed that Jubilant Foodworks has ambitious plans to expand its footprint by opening 1,000 new Domino’s locations and approximately 150 Popeyes outlets over the next three years. This expansion will elevate the total number of Domino’s stores in India to nearly 3,100, while Popeyes will see its count rise to between 200 and 250 stores.
- 1,000 new Domino’s locations
- 150 new Popeyes outlets
- Total Domino’s stores: 3,100
- Total Popeyes stores: 200-250
Innovative Technology Launch
In a significant move to modernize its operations, Jubilant Foodworks recently introduced Elate, India’s first Android-based Point of Sale and order-taking system tailored for the food service sector. This innovative technology aims to streamline processes and enhance customer service.
Global Expansion and Franchise Rights
The company isn’t just focusing on domestic growth. Jubilant Foodworks plans to expand its Domino’s presence in Sri Lanka, aiming for a total of 1,000 stores in the country. Additionally, they’ve secured franchise rights in countries including Turkey, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, bringing their international ambitions to life.
Navigating Market Challenges
The Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) sector has faced significant hurdles over the past several quarters due to sluggish demand and challenging economic conditions. Despite these challenges, Jubilant Foodworks has seen positive developments. In the October-December quarter, the company reported a 12% improvement in like-for-like sales, largely driven by increased volume in home delivery orders. Home delivery now constitutes about 70% of all pizza orders.
Customer-Centric Initiatives
In a bid to enhance customer experience, Jubilant Foodworks eliminated the Rs 40 delivery fee on online orders last March and has no plans to reinstate it soon, according to Khetarpal. The company anticipates that the average order size will grow, bolstered by new premium offerings such as a Rs 799 pizza. Currently, the average order value stands at just over Rs 400.
Additionally, the company’s app boasts approximately 12 million monthly users, which underscores its growing digital presence.
Efficient Delivery Services
Jubilant Foodworks has made substantial improvements to its delivery efficiency, with around 70% of all orders, including those from brands like Dunkin’ and Hong’s Kitchen, being delivered in under 20 minutes. This rapid service is a vital component of their customer satisfaction strategy.
Future Goals for Popeyes
For its Popeyes brand, Jubilant Foodworks aims to establish itself as the second-largest fried chicken brand in India, behind KFC. Khetarpal emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing its technological capabilities, utilizing an in-house developed restaurant copilot to monitor all outlets centrally.
As Jubilant Foodworks continues to expand and innovate, it remains focused on providing exceptional dining experiences and delivering quality food to its customers.
