InterGlobe Enterprises is making a significant leap into the hospitality sector, revealing an ambitious plan to establish 300 hotels over the next five years. Known primarily for its successful airline operation, IndiGo Airlines, the company has announced a strategic partnership with the renowned French hospitality giant, Accor, along with a notable investment in the Indian budget hotel chain, Treebo. This collaboration promises to reshape the landscape of hospitality in India.

Strategic Partnership with Accor

In an exciting development, InterGlobe and Accor are set to create a new entity that will oversee their hotel franchise operations. This initiative includes a shared loyalty program that allows customers of both hotels and IndiGo Airlines to earn and redeem points interchangeably. With Accor currently managing 71 hotels in India and an additional 40 in the works, this new partnership is poised to enhance customer experience significantly.

  • Joint Growth Vision: The two companies aim to collectively operate 30,000 rooms by 2030.
  • Future Expansion: The new entity will integrate InterGlobe Hotels, streamlining operations and accelerating the growth of popular Accor brands like Ibis and Mercure throughout India.

Treebo’s Role in the Expansion

As part of this strategic move, InterGlobe and Accor will become major stakeholders in Treebo, a budget hotel chain founded in 2015 by three IIT graduates. Currently, Treebo operates approximately 800 hotels across 120 cities, making it a formidable player in the Indian hospitality market.

  • Master License Agreement: Treebo will spearhead the expansion of Ibis and Mercure hotels in India, with agreements already in place for 10 new Mercure properties.
  • Market Positioning: This partnership positions Accor and Treebo as the third-largest hospitality entity in India, further solidifying their influence in the sector.
