Hyundai Motor India Achieves 60,774 Units Sold in April Amid Domestic Market Challenges

Hyundai Motor India Ltd has announced its sales figures for April 2025, revealing a total of 60,774 vehicles sold. This impressive number includes 44,374 units sold in the domestic market and 16,400 units exported. Notably, the company celebrated a significant milestone, surpassing 90 lakh units in domestic sales since its establishment.

Monthly Sales Breakdown

In April 2025, Hyundai’s total sales reflected a mixed performance.

  • Domestic Sales: 44,374 units (down 14.4% sequentially and 8.9% year-on-year)
  • Export Sales: 16,400 units (showing robust growth of 21.5% YoY)

This growth in exports highlights Hyundai’s commitment to expanding its global footprint, even as domestic sales faced challenges.

Celebrating a Milestone

Tarun Garg, the Whole-time Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India, expressed pride in achieving the 9 million units milestone in domestic sales since the company began operations in 1996. "As we celebrate 30 years in India starting May 6, 2025, we are thrilled to mark this achievement, reflecting our dedication to the Indian market," Garg noted.

Challenges in the Domestic Market

Despite the success in exports, Garg acknowledged the struggles within the domestic sector. "The Indian market is currently encountering headwinds due to various macroeconomic factors," he explained. Hyundai remains focused on its mission of ‘Make in India, Made for the World,’ which underpins its robust export strategy.

Future Prospects

As Hyundai Motor India prepares to launch its new plant in Talegaon later this year, Garg emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing customer value. "We are excited about the opportunities this new facility will bring," he said.

On the stock market front, Hyundai Motor India’s shares saw a positive trend, closing up 1.79% at ₹1,707.80 on the BSE on the same day.
