HUDCO Shares Plummet 4% Following Board Approval of ₹65,000 Crore Fundraise and Increased Borrowing Limit

Shares of the Housing & Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) experienced a notable decline of over 4% during intraday trading on April 4, 2025. This drop came in the wake of the company’s board approving a substantial fundraising initiative and increasing its borrowing ceiling. While these financial strategies signal growth potential, they also raised concerns among investors about escalating debt levels.

Fundraising Initiatives Approved

In a recent regulatory announcement, HUDCO revealed that its board convened on April 4, 2025, to endorse a robust fundraising agenda. The plan allows for raising up to ₹65,000 crore for the financial year 2025-26, with the actual amount to be determined by the company’s needs throughout the year.

Additionally, the board approved a significant rise in HUDCO’s total borrowing limit from ₹1,50,000 crore to ₹2,50,000 crore. However, this increase is contingent upon receiving approval from shareholders in accordance with Section 180(1)(c) of the Companies Act, 2013.

Stock Performance Insights

The stock saw a decline, hitting a low of ₹200.80, reflecting a drop of 4.2% on that day. Over the past year, the stock has suffered a staggering loss, dropping more than 43% from its peak of ₹353.95, which was recorded in July 2024. In the previous month, it reached a 52-week low of ₹158.90.
