BSE Shares Soar 5% on Upcoming Bonus Share Announcement: Is Now the Time to Invest?

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) witnessed a significant surge in its share price, soaring over 5.3% during Thursday’s trading session. By 10 a.m., BSE stock was valued at ₹4,720 per share, a notable increase from the previous day’s closing price of ₹4,474.

What Are Bonus Shares?

Bonus shares are a strategic move by companies to improve stock liquidity and lower share prices, making them more affordable for investors. These shares are offered at no additional cost to current shareholders, enhancing their overall investment value.

The BSE has yet to confirm the record date for the bonus shares. In a regulatory announcement, the exchange stated, “Following our prior communication on March 26, we will hold a meeting on March 30 to review and potentially approve the bonus share proposal, pending necessary approvals.”

The exchange also highlighted that its trading window will be closed for all securities transactions from March 26, 2025, to April 1, 2025, including both dates. This closure adheres to the SEBI (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations, 2015, and the company’s internal guidelines aimed at preventing insider trading.
