Overcoming Logistical Hurdles

In a recent interview, Dhindsa acknowledged the challenges faced by quick commerce platforms in handling bulky items like air conditioners. Initially skeptical about entering the AC market, he remarked, “In January, we thought selling ACs was unfeasible, but by March, we noted 15,000 searches daily for these products.” This spike in interest prompted Blinkit to adapt quickly.

Competing Retailers Step Up Their Game

As Blinkit makes its move, other e-commerce and electronic retailers are also enhancing their logistics to meet rising consumer demands. For instance, Croma has rolled out same-day delivery for ACs and coolers across more than 30 cities, while Vijay Sales has implemented a similar service for orders placed before 4 PM. Additionally, Amazon offers next-day and 48-hour delivery options for ACs, often including free installation services.

Blinkit’s Expanding Offerings

Previously, Blinkit had introduced rapid deliveries for coolers last year, and it continues to diversify its product range. To increase average order values, the platform has also begun delivering popular items like Apple products, TVs, printers, and laptops, alongside a quick-response ambulance service in Gurugram.
