Infosys Rehires 240 Trainees with One Month’s Pay and Career Support: Here’s the Inside Scoop!

In a recent development, Infosys has taken significant steps to support 240 entry-level trainees who were let go from their positions. The software services powerhouse has introduced a comprehensive support package designed to ease the transition for those affected. This initiative includes free external training, travel allowances, accommodation, and a month’s salary to help the trainees navigate their next career moves.

Reasons Behind the Layoffs

The decision to release these trainees was communicated through company emails dated April 18. According to the correspondence, the 240 individuals could not meet the passing criteria of Infosys’ Generic Foundation Training Program. Despite receiving extensive preparation, including additional sessions and multiple assessment attempts, they were unable to complete the program, leading to their dismissal from the apprenticeship program.

Infosys’ Commitment to Upskilling

In a show of commitment to its former trainees, Infosys has partnered with NIIT and UpGrad to provide free external training programs. This initiative aims to equip the affected employees with new skills that can open doors to alternative career paths.

  • Travel Allowances: Affected trainees will receive financial support for travel to either the Mysuru training center, Bengaluru, or their hometowns during the training period.
  • Learning Pathways: Infosys is offering two distinct learning tracks—one focusing on roles in the Business Process Management (BPM) sector and another on foundational Information Technology (IT) skills, allowing trainees to enhance their capabilities in the tech domain.

Details of the Severance Package

As part of the severance arrangement, each trainee will receive a month’s salary. Infosys has also arranged for professional outplacement services to assist these individuals in securing new job opportunities. The company emphasized in their communication, “As you explore opportunities outside of Infosys, we have planned professional outplacement services to help you on that journey.”

Navigating a Challenging Business Landscape

This move comes as Infosys adapts to an increasingly competitive business environment, forecasting a modest revenue growth of 0 to 3 percent for the current fiscal year. Despite the recent layoffs, CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka confirmed that the company remains optimistic and plans to recruit over 20,000 fresh graduates in FY26, showcasing its ongoing commitment to growth and talent acquisition.

In summary, while the layoffs may seem disheartening, Infosys is taking proactive measures to ensure that the affected trainees have the resources and support they need for a successful transition. This initiative reflects the company’s dedication to fostering talent and navigating the complexities of the current market.
